Social Media Measurement
Google have a new benchmarking tool.
Measurement is something social media bods always struggle with.
What does winning look like?
Tools help to make the data and learnings from campaigns clearer - benchmarking is something that we're beginning to investigate at DO.
I went to Google's offices today. It was slightly disconcerting having a meeting whilst a crowd of Japanese tourists hovered in the background.
They do have fabulous offices though!

Twitter Fun!
There are lots of interesting and individual people to follow on Twitter. Here's just a few that I've been hooked into over the last few months:
Elspeth Murray - the Edinburgh based poet
Robert Scoble - an obvious choice, and a very active Tweeter! Scoble gives insight like no other
Roo Reynolds - BBC Social Media whizz. I met Roo a few weeks ago, and as well as being incredibly well informed and extremely intelligent, he's also a bloomin nice chap
Calvin Harris - I'm not really into his music that much, but his Tweets give a really funny insight to the day-to-days of being a musician, and he's got a great sense of humour!
Comic Relief - I set this up for the peeps at Comic Relief a few weeks ago, as part of the Social Media stuff they've embarked upon for Red Nose Day 2009 (happening this year on March 13th). So far it's been a great success, with 800+ followers. Mark, the chap Tweeting from Comic Relief has a great sense of humour, and has really embraced the medium. Mark is about to embark on the celeb packed climb up Mount Kilimanjaro, where he will also continue to Tweet. Jo, who will be based at Comic Relief HQ will be the 'voice' from London. Both such lovely people, allowing the likes of you and me an up close and personal insight into this great and deserving charity. Actually, go and donate, NOW! Or buy a nose, or T-Shirt, or a whoopee cushion..........

Valentines is for sukkers
I wouldn’t thank you for a Valentine.
I won't wake up early wondering if the postman’s been.
Should 10 red-padded satin hearts arrive with sticky
sickly saccharine
Sentiments in very vulgar verses I wouldn’t wonder if
you meant them.
Two dozen anonymous Interflora red roses?
I’d not bother to swither over who sent them!
I wouldn’t thank you for a Valentine.
Scrawl SWALK across the envelope
I’d just say ‘ Same Auld story
I canny be bothered deciphering it –
I’m up to hear with Amore!
The whole Valentine’s Day Thing is trivial and
commercial,
A cue for unleashing clichés and candyheart motifs to
which I personally am not partial.’
Take more than singing Telegrams, or pints of
Chanel Five, or sweets,
To get me ordering oysters or ironing my black satin sheets.
I wouldn’t thank you for a Valentine.
If you sent me a solitaire and promises solemn,
Took out an ad in the Guardian Personal Column
Saying something very soppy such as ‘Who Loves Ya,
Poo?
I’ll tell you, I do, Fozzy bear, that’s who!’
You’d entirely fail to charm me, in fact I’d detest it
I wouldn’t be eighteen again for anything, I’m glad I’m
past it.
I wouldn’t thank you for a Valentine.
If you sent me a single orchid, or a pair of Janet Reger’s
in a heart-shaped box and declared your Love Eternal
I’d say I’d rather not be caught dead in them they were
politically suspect and I’d rather something thermal.
If you hired a plane and blazed our love in a banner
across the skies;
If you bought me something flimsy in a flatteringly
wrong size;
If you sent me a postcard with three Xs and told me
how you felt
I wouldn’t thank you, I’d melt.

Rebel Rave: Episode 6 The Final Stink and Liquid
A two part episode kicking off with the last ever Stink, the legendary monthly Monday night held at T Bar, hosted by Michael Mayer and Damian Lazarus just before Christmas 08, with a special “Santa” appearance by Mr C.
We then fly to Barcelona to check out the Crosstown Rebels’ residency at Liquid, one of the city’s favourite clubs. Dinky, Pier Bucci and Damian Lazarus spend the night playing under the Spanish stars to an energetic crowd on the edge of a great outdoor swimming pool.
Filmed, directed and edited by David Terranova.
Presented by ME!
How old am I?
Urusei Yatsura was one of the many bands that I grew up with. I have memories of fooling my mum into thinking that I was doing my biology revision, when actually, I was faxing Ricky Gervais and Clare Sturgess on the then newly launched XFM, and requesting songs by Urusei Yatsura, Sparklehorse and in particular, Coldplay's 'Yellow' (I think they were still practically unsigned then). Happy Days.

Facebook: Epic Win
Fact: 54% of young people would rather give up TV than give up social networking.
The source being the latest Cassandra report from Intelligence Group which offers an in-depth look into the lives of 14 to 34 year-old consumers.

Heart Heart
My friend Martin has started this new web downloadable arty magazine. Such a cute idea. The first issue features people like Che Blomfield, Lucia Garnelo and Alex Noble. All such talented bods.
Go get it.
Mr David Terranova
I am a bit of a loser sometimes. When I haven't been able to see DT for a few days I do tend to do things like stare at his blog, or leave him stupid messages on Facebook. Anyway, one such staring session this evening led me to come across this:
Seth Troxler on David Terranova from David Terranova on Vimeo.
I'm not going to explain the story here, DT will do it much more betterer............
